There has been some controversy concerning whether or not the Peruvian Rainbow Boa is it own unique subspecies of Epicrates cenchria (gaigei) or if it was misclassified and is actually just the Brazilian Rainbow Boa (Epicrates cenchria cenchria). I have acquired the original articles describing E.c. gaigei (PRB)(Stull 1938) as well and the article describing the reclassification (2008).
